Synteko's history

It all started in a laboratory in Stockholm where chemists - who at the time were producing adhesives - had a tendency to drop urea resin on the laboratory desks. What was first seen as a problem due to the difficulty in removing this hard substance was later realised to be a possibility on other surfaces. Synteko's first floor finish was launched after the end of World War II and the first product was an unmodified urea resin floor finish.

The big break-through came at the beginning of the 1950s when Synteko introduced a new modified version. Its success was undeniable. The Synteko brand became generic, and people wanted to have their floors to be Synteko-treated. In the 1970s Synteko was one of the first companies in the world to introduce waterborne lacquers. This competence is still Synteko's greates strength.

Synteko started its global expansion as early as the 1950s. The photograph above shows the delivery of Synteko floor finish to one of our partners in Sydney, Australia, in 1964, who at the time had already been a customer of ours for ten years. This is also something that is valued within Synteko: our long-term business relations. Many of Synteko's partners have been working with us for many years. The common basis on which the Synteko family all work is our focus on specialist and high quality.
